Boy Scouts Secure Food Donations

Updated: May 22, 2023

The Bread of Life Food Pantry would like to thank Boy Scout Troop 173 and their leaders, Neil Vidt and Dennis Haramic, for the 55 boxes of food donations the pantry received in May 2022.

These donations were collected in Etna by boy scouts during the Scouting for Food Campaign. The scouts canvassed Etna with fliers and bags for collecting donations, and the following week donated items were collected. The boxes of food were then delivered to the Bread of Life Food Pantry's drop-off point at the All Saints School.

The troop has been at Emmanuel Lutheran Church for nearly 100 years and has been canvassing Etna for more than 15 years for the Scouting for Food Campaign. To our delight, the Bread of Life Food Pantry as been the benefactor of this effort. Troop 173 is glad to help the people of Etna by doing this event. It is part of their duty as members of the Boy Scouts of America to "Do a Good Turn Daily". It is also part of giving back to the community as one of the service projects they do each year.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry is deeply grateful to Troop 173 for their hard work. By working together, we ensure that all our neighbors in need have enough food for today and tomorrow.
